Author Branding

An author platform that holds up between books: website, bio, visual identity and a place to build a list.

The book has a brand and the author does not

A reader who finishes your book and searches your name should find something. Most authors have a store profile with a two-line bio, three different headshots across four platforms, and nowhere to sign up. The attention arrives and has nowhere to go.

One consistent author platform you own

We define how you are positioned, build the identity and bio that carry it, and put them on a website you own with email capture built in. Store and social profiles are then brought in line so the same author shows up everywhere.

What you get

  • Author positioning statement
  • Short and long bios
  • Visual identity and typography
  • Author website build
  • Email capture and welcome sequence
  • Store and social profile setup
  • Simple brand usage guide

How it works

  1. PositioningWe work out what you are known for, who you are speaking to, and what the next books will need to sit alongside this one.
  2. IdentityBios at three lengths, a typographic and colour system, and the headshot and imagery direction that goes with them.
  3. WebsiteA focused author site: books, about, contact and an email sign-up, built to be edited by you and to add future titles without a redesign.
  4. ProfilesStore author pages and social profiles updated with the same bio, image and links, so the author is recognisably one person everywhere.
  5. GuideA short usage document covering fonts, colours, logo and bio, so anything you or a designer produce later stays consistent.

Common questions

Do I need a website if my book is on the stores?

A store listing sells one book to someone already there; a site is where you keep readers between books and collect email addresses you own. It also gives interviewers, event organisers and journalists somewhere to verify who you are. It does not need to be large to do that job.

What if I only have one book so far?

That is the normal starting point, and the platform is built to accept more titles without being rebuilt. A single-book author site works better when it is about you and your subject rather than only the one title. Adding the second book later is a content update.

Can you write my author bio?

Yes, at three lengths: a one-liner, a short profile bio and a longer version for the site and press. They are written from an interview with you, so the claims in them are things you can stand behind. Every version says the same thing about you.

Do I need to be active on social media?

Not on every platform. It is better to be consistent on one channel your readers actually use than absent on five. We set the profiles up correctly either way, so even a dormant profile points people to your site.

How is this different from your business branding service?

The work overlaps, but the buyer and the outputs differ. Author branding is built around a person, a body of work and a reading audience, rather than a company, a product line and a commercial funnel. If you need both, we can run them together so they do not contradict each other.
